WHAT IS KUNDALINI YOGA?
"Kundalini Yoga according to Yogi Bhajan" was brought to the West by the teacher Yogi Bhajan in the 1960s. He soon founded his first ashram in Española, New Mexico in the U.S. In 1969 he founded the organization "3HO", a non-profit association that ensures his legacy after his death in 2004. The second organization "IKYTA" (International Kundalini Yoga Teacher Association) connects Kundalini teachers worldwide and supports the spread of "Kundalini Yoga according to Yogi Bhajan in the form he taught it. "Yogaherz" is a member of "IKYTA" since 2017 and thus part of the worldwide community.
THE POWER OF KUNDALINI
In Tantric teachings, "Kundalini" is the source of universal energy that lies dormant within each of us. According to the scriptures, the "Kundalini" is located at the root of the spine (in the pelvis), like a coiled snake. With the help of yoga and meditation, one gradually awakens the "Kundalini". When successfully awakened and rising through the spine or the subtle channel contained therein (Shushumna Nadi), it activates all seven energy centers (chakras) in the body and leads to expanded, creative states of consciousness. Kundalini practice aims at this awakening and offers an energy program to prepare the body for this event. For normal daily life and our earthly challenges in life, Kundalini Yoga gives you strength, stamina and discipline. The exercises are done quickly, repetitively and for a long time. You feel very awake, strong and alive afterwards. Just try it! Are you rather looking for a more physical, classical yoga? Then try Hatha Yoga.
